Faster Answers for Every Role in Your Plant

From Raw Milk to Finished Product, Value at Every Step

QA / Quality Managers: Standardize testing across every line and shift, complement your existing lab methods with rapid at-line results, and own a single, consistent compositional data record for your whole plant.

QC / QA Technicians: Run rapid, non-destructive checks on fat, protein, moisture, and total solids across milk, powder, cheese, and whey, and catch out-of-spec batches in seconds.

Plant / Operations Managers: Boost throughput, cut your cost per test, reduce waste and rework, and protect your margin by holding product to target composition.

Process / Production Engineers: Use real-time NIR data to tighten process control, cut variability, and improve first-pass yield across separation, standardization, and drying.

Standardization Operators: Check fat and protein in seconds to dial in standardization and blending, so you hit component targets without giveaway on high-value solids.

Drying / Powder Operators: Monitor moisture and composition in milk and whey powders to control the dryer, protect product stability, and stay within spec.

R&D / Product Development Scientists: Shorten your recipe iteration cycles when adjusting fat, protein, or ingredients, with results in seconds instead of a lab turnaround.

The Numbers Behind Every Dairy Spec

Moisture, fat, protein, and total solids across fluid, powder, and solid dairy products, with an extended range supporting more difficult constituents.

Ready-to-Use Calibrations Include:

  • Various cheeses: cheddar, mozzarella, processed, goat cheese, Epoisses, halloumi, quark, etc.
  • Butter: salted and unsalted
  • Liquid milk products
  • Dairy powders: skim milk powder, whole milk powder, whey, WPC, MPC 56, MPC 70, egg powder
  • Infant formula & neonatal milk
  • Liquid WPC
  • Ice cream mix

Measured Constituents Include:

SpectraStar™ XT quantifies the following measurement parameters in dairy samples: moisture, fat, protein, total solids, solids-not-fat, salt, lactose, pH, acidity, ash, and free fatty acids. Additional parameters including ascorbic acid content, peroxide value, and mineral content (calcium, sodium chloride) are available in the extended calibration set.

Additional dairy calibrations are available, and custom calibrations can be built with UCal™ 4. Talk to our experts about your unique needs.

Proven NIR, Built for the Lab and the Line

The same analyzer runs on the QC bench and out on the production floor - one platform, one set of results.

  • Fast: samples analyzed in under a minute; results on a 17" touchscreen in a couple of touches.
  • Simple & safe: little or no sample prep, no hazardous chemicals to buy, store, or dispose of.
  • Sealed & fanless: a sealed, powder-coated aluminum case with no venting or fan - at home in a clean lab and rugged enough for at-line use.
  • Stays aligned: patented True Alignment Spectroscopy (TAS) corrects drift and re-standardizes the instrument to factory values, so results hold over time and transfer cleanly across units and locations
  • Connected: UScan™ software with SPC trend charting, direct report printouts, customizable LIMS export, and cloud access via KPM Link

Why Choose the SpectraStar?

  • NIR over wet chemistry: minutes instead of hours, no solvents, operator-independent results you can act on at the line.
  • Open calibration approach: ready-to-use Unity calibrations plus UCal™ 4 to build or port your own models freely.
  • No mandatory recurring license to keep your analyzer running. Combined with a user-changeable 10,000-hour lamp and low-cost user parts, this can lower total cost of ownership.
  • Extended range, dual detector: 680–2600 nm across 1920 data points, reaching below and above the conventional ~800–2500 nm NIR window to support difficult constituents like fibers, sugars, and fatty acids.
  • Sealed, fanless design: no venting or fan, for dust and rugged use at-line.
  • ISO 12099 aligned: meets NIR guidelines for feedstuffs, cereals, and milled cereal products.
