Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineer will support manufacturing engineering, including production management, process optimization, quality control, and continuous improvement for the process business unit. This role focuses on enhancing operational efficiency, improving product quality, and reducing costs to ensure exceptional customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented engineer with technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and a hands-on approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Production Support: Coordinate custom production activities for efficient operations, ensuring high-quality output and meeting targets. Support production teams to achieve timely and cost-effective manufacturing objectives.
  • Process Optimization: Drive process optimization initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability. Implement lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Quality Control: Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure products meet specifications and regulatory requirements. Conduct regular quality audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Supplier and Contract Manufacturer Management: Support relationships with strategic suppliers and contract manufacturers to ensure quality and timely delivery of products. Assist in managing performance of suppliers.
  • Automation: Drive automation initiatives to enhance efficiency and scalability.
  • Inventory Management: Support management of inventory levels to ensure availability of materials and components while minimizing excess stock.
  • Safety Management: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and promote a culture of safety across all manufacturing.
  • Data Management Systems: Implement robust data, visual, and daily management systems across production cells.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek and identify opportunities for improvements, propose actions to be taken, and promote productivity and efficiency through lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience and Qualifications

  • Engineering Experience: 5+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably in food manufacturing or high-value and highly engineered systems manufacturing.
  • Operational Expertise: Experience in precision, low-volume, high-mix manufacturing. Strong integration and operational consolidation skills.
  • Supply Chain Skills: Knowledge of supply chain support, vendor management, help decide on make-versus-buy decisions, and global sourcing strategies.
  • Team Collaboration: Strong collaboration skills with proven ability to work with production teams and design engineers. Ability to create an environment of strong team spirit, timely and effective communications, a sense of urgency, and high motivation to achieve goals.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Proficiency in ERP systems and other manufacturing software, NetSuite a plus.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in the industrial process food equipment industry is a plus.
